Ever have one of those days where you just can’t get moving?
Maybe you’re tired, stiff, or achy.
In order to get energy, sometimes we have to give energy.
That doesn’t mean we have to do a marathon.
Many times just some simple feel-good movement is enough to start our engines.
Tai Chi is a gentle Chinese martial art with graceful and flowing movements that have been suggested to improve chronic pain, ease stiff joints, and improve strength and balance.
Further studies are showing marked improvement for such challenges as osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, arthritis, and low back pain when Tai Chi is practiced on a regular basis throughout the week.
The slow and fluid nonstop moves promote steady breathing which can help improve your heart and lungs and decrease stress.
Tai Chi can be done both by the beginner and the advanced students.
If you’re new to this practice, start off easy with just a short amount of time.
For advanced followers, plenty of longer and more challenging routines are available on YouTube.
This Tai Chi for seniors practice is good for all ages, but is particularly beneficial for older adults who want to stay healthy but are not always up for an intense workout.
And as with any physical activity, the more you move, the better you become and the better you feel.
Folks, continue to find ways that work for you to remain active and also give you a little challenge.
Moving will help in making the aging process a little easier as it is believed to be “medication in motion.”
