Doing a stomach toning workout and engaging our core muscles isn’t just for keeping a slim waistline.

It’s beneficial for numerous other reasons:

By supporting our spine, strong core muscles help keep us in good alignment and in a correct upward position to help relieve pressure on the back discs and vertebrae, avoiding lower back pain.

Core muscles assist in getting up from a chair, working at the sink, bending down to pick something up off the floor, and in lifting objects.

Keeping these muscles strong is key to performing these tasks without effort and groaning.

And with falls a common risk in our age group, keeping the core strong and flexible aides in catching ourselves and improving our reaction time should we stumble.

It is so important to keep all our muscle groups balanced so they continue to work in harmony in keeping us self sufficient and independent.
