If you suffer from stiff hands in the morning, it can be scary waking up and being unable to use your hands.
Preparing your morning coffee, making breakfast and getting dressed can all be a challenge if your fingers are stiff and locked.
For some folks, medication does help, but over time, they can take a toll on your body, especially your stomach.
Before grabbing for those pills on a regular basis, try getting in the habit of gently unlocking the joints in the wrists and fingers with some gentle movement and massage.
How To Relieve Stiff Hands In The Morning
By increasing circulation using exercises like the ones I demonstrate in the video below, we warm the joints and increase the synovial fluid to them so they can glide and move more easily.
Some folks find that just a warm shower will also do the trick.
As we age, morning stiffness is not uncommon. And if you have it, you must keep experimenting with ways that can make it more manageable.
Try a technique for several days before you decide if it works for you and just continue to research for answers.
Taking charge of our health as we journey through our senior years is key to living our best lives and it is our own responsibility.
Fortunately, there is help out there with doctors, therapists, ongoing research, and alternative therapies.
Try to be optimistic and remind yourself the reasons to stay healthy (continued independence is a big reason!).
