Why Do Post-Workout Stretches?
It is important to bring your heart rate and breathing back to a normal rate as to not leave you feeling fatigued and spent for the rest of your day.
It helps improve your circulation!
By lengthening your muscles and loosening your joints, you will have a better range of motion and more flexibility which will help you move more easily and help to avoid injury.
Another very important reason to stretch is to ward off pain.
As we work the muscles, tendon, and ligaments, they can become knotted and shortened causing stiffness and unnecessary soreness.
Stretching can get rid of those knots so you can reap even better results from the workout you just invested your time in.
When Should I Stretch?
Stretching ideally should be done daily, but especially after your exercise routine.
If you can dedicate a certain amount of time to this important part of overall fitness, you will find that over time you will have a more improved performance and feeling of well being.
So grab a mat and see if you don’t just feel great after taking time to stretch.
